New version 7.0 of all X Window proxy products and streamlined products portfolio

After more than one year of continuous improvement the giant step from version 6.07 to 7.0 is justified.

For instance, new transport modules further increase the throughput of the X Window proxies.

The POSE products for recording and playback of X Window sessions were enhanced by comprehensive multimedia features. They allow to capture, transport, store, and replay audio, video, or arbitrary binary data streams simultaneously and synchronously to the POSE data stream. Now it is possible to convert a POSE recording into any video format by use of an external video codec.

Further improvements make fast positioning during playback easier and provide for direct control of the software by other programs.

The configuration and control programs of X-META-X, X-POSE-X-PLAY, and X-POSE-X-RECORD were enhanced by new GUIs.

The new pricing provides low entry prices for X-BIG-X (now a cheap but more versatile substitute of XINERAMA) and X-META-X.

The products X-PAN-X as well as X-VARIO-X, X-KEYMAP-X, and X-TRANSLUCENT-X are discontinued, because their functionalities are covered by X-BIG-X and X-META-X, respectively. The streamlined product portfolio provides for easy selection of the product exactly meeting the requirements:

• X-BIG-X maps arbitrary large virtual display areas - so-called meta screens - on one or more real screens of an X Window server. The dimensions of the screens do not matter. Screens may overlap or leave gaps. The visible areas may be arbitrarily positioned on the virtual area by moving the mouse pointer.
• X-META-X maps arbitrary large virtual display areas - so-called meta screens - on one or more real screens of one or multiple X Window servers or even on X Window windows. The dimensions of the screens do not matter. Screens may overlap or leave gaps. The visible areas may be arbitrarily positioned on the virtual area by moving the mouse pointer. This base functionality can be enhanced by options, each implementing a certain functionality like zooming, rotating, beaming or recording an X Window session or even providing a fail-safe X Window server.
• X-POSE-X-RECORD is used for exactly and totally recording for later or simultaneous playback of X Window sessions or individual applications, optionally together with audio, video, or arbitrary binary data streams.
• X-POSE-X-PLAY is used for playback of files recorded by X-POSE-X-RECORD or X-META-X or for simultaneous playback. The recording may be converted to video formats, too.
• X-CONTROL-X receives all input events from one X Window server, the master, and may decide to send the events to one of several other X Window servers, the slaves. At any time, there is only one mouse pointer visible, unless configured otherwise. The position of the visible mouse pointer determines the target of the input events. The mouse pointer is warped on one of the other screens by touching the screen border or by pressing a specified hot key combination.
